14-year-old Karachi student killed in 'fake encounter'
DIG Nasir Aftab said had taken notice of the incident
Karachi: A 14-year-old youngster was shot dead in an alleged fake encounter in Karachi's Orangi Town area late on Monday night.
According to details, the incident took place in Karachi’s Orangi-5 area where Arsalan Mehsud was shot dead by police while his friend sustained bullet wounds.
The police constable who shot Arsalan Mehsud was detained.
Earlier, the Orangi Town police had claimed that they had tried to stop two men on a motorcycle at a picket. The two men, in response, opened fire instead of stopping, claimed police.
Police said that in the exchange of fire one unknown suspect was killed, while his companion fled. The police found one pistol with five bullets on the deceased.
Members of the bereaved family rejected these allegations and stated that no firearm was recovered from Arsalan. Police killed him in a fake encounter.
Consequently, DIG Nasir Aftab said had taken notice of the incident and formed an inquiry team under the supervision of the SSP Central.
DIG West rejected the statement of the police officer who had shot at the victim, saying that the fake encounter did not take place at the picket.
DIG Aftab added that they had also detained Police Constable Tauheed, who had fired shots in the alleged shootout.
Arsalan Mehsud, son of Haji Liaquat Mehsud, who is the president of the All Dumpers Association, was a student of Intermediate and was returning from his coaching institute when he was killed in a fake encounter by the police
