PSX witnesses bearish trend, loses 1,047 points

A total of 613,314,754  shares valuing Rs 26.314 billion were traded during the day as compared to 541,144,650 shares valuing Rs 22.589 billion the last day.

Karachi: The 100-Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed bearish trend on Monday, shedding 1,047.71 points, negative change of 1.44 percent, closing at 71,695.03 points against 72,742.75 points the previous trading day.

A total of 613,314,754  shares valuing Rs 26.314 billion were traded during the day as compared to 541,144,650 shares valuing Rs 22.589 billion the last day.

Some 385 companies transacted their shares in the stock market; 133 of them recorded gains and 231 sustained losses, whereas the prices of 21 remained unchanged.

The three top trading companies were Hascol Petrol with 60,072,684 shares at Rs 8.11 per share, Fauji Fert Bin with 35,168,028 shares at Rs 35.62 per share and Pace (Pak) Limited with 32,652,000 shares at Rs3.49 per share.

Hallmark Company Limited witnessed a maximum increase of Rs 86.32 per share price, closing at Rs 1,239.14, whereas the runner-up was Sazgar Engineering Works Limited with a Rs 31.33 rise in its per share price to Rs694.78.

Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited witnessed a maximum decrease of Rs 600.21 per share closing at Rs 19,553.71, followed by Nestle Pakistan Limited with Rs 338.41 decline to close at Rs 7,484.20.

Gold rates decrease by Rs 500 per tola to Rs 243,900

All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association says the price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also decreased by Rs 429 to Rs 209,105 from Rs  209,534 whereas the prices of 10 gram 22 karat gold went down to Rs 191,680 from Rs 192,072.

Karachi: The per tola price of 24 karat gold decreased by Rs 500 and was sold at Rs 243,900 on Monday compared to its sale at Rs 244,400 on last trading day.

The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also decreased by Rs 429 to Rs 209,105 from Rs  209,534 whereas the prices of 10 gram 22 karat gold went down to Rs 191,680 from Rs 192,072, the All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.

The price of per tola and ten gram silver remained stagnant at Rs 2,650 and Rs 2,271.94 respectively.

The price of gold in the international market decreased by $2 to $2,335 from $2,337, the association reported.

Rupee sheds 01 pasia against US dollar

The Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP) says the buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs 277.25 and Rs 279.85 respectively.

Karachi: Pakistani Rupee on Monday lost 01 paisa against the US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs 278.39 against the previous day’s closing of Rs 278.38.

However, according to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs 277.25 and Rs 279.85 respectively.

The price of the Euro decreased by 49 paisa and closed at Rs 298.38 against the last-day closing of Rs 298.87, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The Japanese Yen remained unchanged at Rs1.78, whereas an increase of 31 paisa was witnessed in the exchange rate of the British Pound, which was traded at Rs348.79 compared to the last closing of Rs348.48.

The Emirates Dirham and the Saudi Riyal witnessed no change and closed at Rs75.79 and Rs74.22 respectively.
