Dawid Malan surpasses Babar, Kohli to register T20I record
Karachi: England’s batsman Dawid Malan has become the quickest batter in the world to score 1000 T20I runs, surpassing Pakistan’s Babar Azam and India’s Virat Kholi.
Malan, breached the four-figure mark in just 24 innings and prior to that he had 935 runs in 23 T20Is.
Babar Azam is now the second-quickest batsman to score 1000 T20I runs in 26 innings.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is the only batsman with 3000 runs in the shortest format, following 27 innings.
Malan completed his 1000th run with a single off Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the 13th over in the 5th T20I against India. He broke the joint record of Kevin Pietersen and Alex Hales as the duo batted 32 times to complete 1000 runs.
The cricketer made his T20I debut in 2017.
Since 2017, the 33-year old scored 1003 runs at an average of 50.15 with a century and 10 half-centuries.
