Pakistan rejects playing Asia Cup on any other venue

Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has clearly refused to Asia Cricket Board (ACB) and International Cricket Council (ICC) to participate in Asia Cup 2023 if it would take place at another venue.

According to details, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka opposed the hybrid model presented by Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023. However, PCB also took a firm stand stating that if tournament would take place on another venue, Pakistan will not take part.

Sources told that Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have raised concerns over matches being played in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Sri Lanka Cricket Board Secretary Mohan de Silva said that we have written to ACB that we oppose the hybrid model presented by Pakistan.

Whereas PCB officials stated that Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have no issue with playing in Pakistan. They also have the e-mails available sent by the cricket boards of both countries.

PCB official added that Asia Cup 2022 was played in UAE from August 27 to September 11 and same was followed for Asia Cup 2018 from September 15 to 28.
