Court bars NAB from arresting Babar Awan
The accountability court sent the anti-graft agency a notice and prevented NAB from arresting the PTI leader till September 5.
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Babar Awan approached an accountability court seeking protective bail in the National Crime Agency (NCA) £190 million scandal on Wednesday.
Judge Muhammad Bashir of the Accountability Court heard the case and granted Awan temporary release in the NCA case until September 5.
The accountability court sent the anti-graft agency a notice and prevented NAB from arresting the PTI leader till September 5.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had opened an inquiry into Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and others for the purported acquisition of hundreds of canals of land in the name of the Al Qadir University Trust, which reportedly resulted in a loss to the national exchequer of 190 million pounds.
According to the allegations, the former prime minister and other suspects reportedly altered Rs50 billion (190 million pounds at the time), which was provided to the government by the British National Crime Agency (NCA).
