Power Division unveils 80 mln units of electricity theft

Islamabad: Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Energy (Power Division), Rashid Langrial, has disclosed that during the operation against electricity theft, the discovery of 80 million units of stolen electricity has been made.

In a tweet (X), Secretary Power Rashid Langrial shared details regarding electricity theft, stating that a search had been initiated for 80 million units of stolen electricity.

Additionally, 194 individuals involved in electricity theft have been apprehended.

Secretary Power revealed that, to date, penalties totaling PKR 352 million and 20 thousand have been imposed for electricity theft.

According to Secretary Power Rashid Langrial, there is notable progress in the fight against electricity theft, especially when comparing LESCO and MEPCO with other companies.

It is worth noting that, in compliance with the Prime Minister's directives, anti-electricity theft operations are underway nationwide.

Previously, Secretary Power Rashid Langrial stated that a crackdown against electricity theft had commenced.

Now, this is just the beginning, and this ruthless and unforgiving act will not be tolerated.

Rashid Langrial mentioned that PKR 1.1 billion has been recovered in the electricity theft crackdown, and 21 individuals have been arrested on charges of electricity theft, with penalties amounting to PKR 164 million and 40 thousand.
