Pakistan's coronavirus death toll nears 19,000, but some good omens
Islamabad: Pakistan’s registered death toll from coronavirus infections rose towards 19,000 on Monday, but some data suggested the spread of the disease has been contained after a one-week national lockdown.
Pakistan is presently experiencing the third wave of coronavirus which is said to be deadlier and more contagious than previous two waves.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 3,447 cases of coronavirus were reported while 78 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 18,993.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 861,473.
As many as 762,105 patients have recovered from the disease with 4,846 critical cases.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 319,365 in the province with 9,058 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 292,644 in the province, while the death toll has reached 4,742.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 124,484 in the province with 3,615 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 23,447 confirmed cases while 248 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 17,945 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 508. On the other hand, there are 5,388 cases in GB with 107 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 78,200 cases in the capital city while 715 people have lost their lives.
