Lahore: The Punjab Education Board has announced that the matriculation exams in the province will be held as per the schedule.

All Pakistan Private Schools Association (APPSA) in a letter written to caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi and Secretary Higher Education requested to postpone the exams by at least one month.

President APPSA Mian Shabbir Ahmed Hashmi in his letter had requested the postponement of the exams citing the adverse effects of smog and the extension of winter vacations on students.

However, the Punjab Education Board has made it clear that neither there will be delay nor the exam schedule will be changed.

It is pertinent to note that the matriculation exams are going to start from March 1. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has also released the provisional date sheet.

According to the authorities concerned, any delay in the matriculation exams may affect the schedule of higher level exams.

Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had announced the postponement of the SSC (Class IX and Class X) examinations by a month, which were to begin on March 14.

This was decided following the requests of parents and students who expressed their concerns about exams during the holy month of Ramadan.
