Shafqat Mehmood tests negative for COVID-19, credits vaccine for quick recovery
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood Wednesday stated that he has tested negative for COVID-19, in a week after he contracted the deadly virus.
On his official Twitter handle, the Education Minister wrote, “By the grace of Allah I have fully recovered. My latest two tests are negative”.
Shafqat Mehmood will be going back to work starting today.
Crediting his quick recovery to the vaccine, Federal Minister stated, “The mild symptoms and quick recovery are without a doubt because of the vaccination”
He further added, “Clearly vaccines work and are the best defence against this horrible disease”.
The Federal Minister had opened up about his diagnosis on May 25.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education will chair the inter-provincial education ministers’ conference today (Wednesday).
The meeting would be attended by all education ministers.
According to sources, the meeting is summoned to take a final decision regarding Matric and Intermediate examinations in the country.
Moreover, the meeting will also review the pandemic situation across the country and make a decision about the reopening of educational institutions.
Previously, it had been decided that board exams would begin after June 20. Intermediate and matric exams would be given priority.
