The Guardian publishes article against Imran Khan
The article criticizes Imran Khan over his candidacy for the position of chancellor at Oxford University
London: The British newspaper The Guardian on Sunday carried out an article which criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan over his candidacy for the position of Chancellor at Oxford University.
Expressing concerns, The Guardian’s article raised questions regarding Imran Khan's suitability for the role, asking, "Is the Taliban-friendly PTI founder truly the best choice for Oxford's next Chancellor?"
The newspaper’s article highlighted that after the withdrawal of U.S., British, and allied forces from Kabul, Imran Khan congratulated the Afghan Taliban, praising them for "breaking the chains of slavery."
The Guardian’s column further pointed out that Imran Khan blamed sexually harassed women for their own suffering and referred to Osama bin Laden as a martyr. Khan had previously refused to label bin Laden as a terrorist, it said.
The article argued that Khan's nomination is an insult to the women of Oxford, both past and present graduates, and expressed regret that no one has pointed this out to Khan and his supporters.
The British newspaper endorsed Lady Elish Angiolini as the best candidate for Oxford University's Chancellor, emphasizing that she is already a valuable asset to the institution.
The election for Oxford University's Chancellor will take place on October 28, with 250,000 alumni and former staff members voting online.
The newly elected Chancellor would serve a ten-year term.
