Govt to estimate value of gifts received in Toshakhana, calls for bids

Islamabad: The Cabinet Division has decided to estimate the prices of gifts received in Toshakhana.

The Cabinet Division has invited bids from private estimators till September 30 to estimate the value of the gifts received at the Toshakhana.

According to the media reports, the prices of the gifts of different categories received in the Toshakhana will be estimated and the value of other received gifts including jewellery, watches, and carpets will be ascertained.

The Cabinet Division will contract with the successful appraisers who will be paid the charges for the gift estimates and the formula for payment of the charges has also been formulated.

Marks are also laid down for the appraisers' qualifications based on which they will be selected. State-owned Toshakhana gifts are available for sale only to political officials, the bureaucracy, both civilian and military, and judges of the Supreme Court. But if any gift is left over from the purchase, it is auctioned for public sale.

According to government policy, every gift received must be reported to the government and deposited in the register.
