Islamabad: China's Minister of Political and Legal Affairs Chen Mengguo met Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in ​​which they discussed relations with China, especially Xinjiang Province, and issues of mutual interest.

A high-level delegation led by China's Minister of Political and Legal Affairs Chen Mengguo met with the Federal Minister of Interior who welcomed the Chinese minister and the delegation on arrival at the Ministry of Interior.

In the meeting, it was agreed to increase cooperation in the fields of anti-terrorism, cross-border cooperation, anti-smuggling, and anti-narcotics. Joint exercises of police and paramilitary forces in Gilgit-Baltistan or Xinjiang were reviewed in the context of anti-terrorism.

It was also agreed in the meeting to conduct training of Gilgit-Baltistan police officers at Xinjiang Police Academy. It was also decided that a Pakistani delegation headed by the Federal Interior Secretary would soon visit Xinjiang province to promote cooperation.

On this occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that Xinjiang province is very important for Pakistan in its relations with China. Besides being a neighbor of Pakistan, we have a long border of 600 kilometers with Xinjiang. The CPEC project also passes through Xinjiang province of China.

He stated that he wants to strengthen the relations with Xinjiang in all fields and that drugs, arms, equipment and all kinds of smuggling should be completely resolved.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi added that the visit of the Pakistani delegation will reveal new ways to strengthen cooperation, and wants to advance relations with Pakistan in all fields.

On this occasion, Chinese Minister Chen Mengguo said that terrorism is a common problem. Xinjiang was also a victim of terrorism for many years, and Pakistan can benefit from Xinjiang's experience in counter-terrorism.
