ECP suspends 26 former MPs from election participation

These lawmakers include 11 ex MNAs, 7 MPAs of Sindh Assembly and 8 MPAs of Balochistan Assembly

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified 26 former members of the national and provincial assemblies from contesting elections due to their failure to submit financial returns.

These lawmakers include 11 former members of the National Assembly, seven from the Sindh Assembly and eight from the Balochistan Assembly.

The ECP clarified that these individuals will remain ineligible to participate in any election until they submit their declarations for the year 2023-22.

Among the suspended lawmakers are Khurram Dastgir, Mohsin Ranjha, Muhammad Ali, Kamaluddin, Arsalan Taj, Syed Imran Ali Shah, and Yar Muhammad Rand, along with others.

The ECP added, "Once the required declarations are submitted, the former members will be eligible to run in future elections."
