One more petition in SC against 26th amendment

Islamabad: Another petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against the 26th constitutional amendment on Saturday.

A new petition against the 26th constitutional amendment has been filed by Advocate Mian Asif under Section 184(3), in which the federal government, the Ministry of Law and the Attorney General have been made parties.

It is requested in the petition that the Supreme Court should declare the 26th constitutional amendment null and void. Parliament cannot make amendments against the independence of the judiciary. The independence of the judiciary is part of the basic structure of the Constitution. Parliamentary interference in judicial affairs affects the independence of the judiciary and the delivery of justice.

It is pertinent to note that two days ago also a petition against the 26th constitutional amendment was filed in the Supreme Court. In the petition filed by Afrasiab Khattak, all political parties including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) were made parties
