Multan: The threat of smog continues to loom across the country as now the toxic smog has spread to South Punjab following Lahore and nearby cities.

According to details, the hazardous air pollution in Multan, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur raising alarms among health officials and residents alike. Despite government efforts to implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), violations continue unabated, with smoke-belching vehicles and roadside food stalls contributing significantly to the smog crisis.

The experts had attributed the worsening air quality to non-compliance with regulations aimed at curbing pollution from brick kilns and smoke-emitting vehicles. Health experts had warned that vulnerable populations, particularly children and the elderly, are most at risk from the toxic air, with many suffering from respiratory issues and other related health problems.

Residents are urged to take precautions as conditions worsen.

The experts emphasised the need for community awareness and compliance with health guidelines to mitigate the adverse effects of this environmental crisis.
