Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif suspended from service several doctors and paramedical staff over the spread of AIDS during her visit to Nishtar Hospital in Multan on Saturday.

The medical superintendent (MS), the head nurse, several doctors as well as a head nurse were suspended for their involvement in the matter.
During the visit, the chief minister was briefed about the violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs). She was informed that AIDS and hepatitis tests were not conducted regularly, as required every three months.
Additionally, private laboratories were used for AIDS tests against protocol, and despite confirming the presence of AIDS in some patients, the hospital staff, including ward doctors, attempted to cover up the incident.
