ADB to provide $330mn to Pakistan for poor families

Islamabad: A $330 million loan agreement has been signed between Pakistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The money will be spent on strengthening the social protection system and expanding social protection at the grassroots level to eradicate poverty.

The agreement signed between Pakistan and ADB was signed by Secretary of Economic Affairs Division Kazim Niaz of Pakistan and Country Director Emafin of ADB.

According to a statement issued in this regard, this loan has been given under the Integrated Social Protection Development Program, which aims to help poor and vulnerable households.

Under this program, support will be provided to poor women and their families through BISP, and climate-resilient support will be provided to poor and vulnerable families.

ADB Country Director Emafin said that this program has increased access to primary and secondary education for poor children and youth, and has also helped improve access to health services and food supplies for women and young girls.
