Pakistan Army pays tribute to police on ‘Police Martyrs Day’

The Pakistan Army Wednesday paid tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan Police for serving the nation in every unfortunate situation and crisis.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) chief Major General Babar Iftikhar said: Salute to martyrs of Pakistan Police on Police Martyrs Day.

On the occasion Pakistan Army Chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa also sent his wishes as Tweeted by the official ISPR Twitter handle, “Pakistan Police has made monumental sacrifices in the line of duty over the years, contributing immensely in bringing peace and stability to the country.”

The Police Martyrs Day across Pakistan is being observed today on Wednesday, August 4.

Police Martyrs Day aims to honour brave fighters of the nation and express solidarity with their families and is celebrated every year to pay homage to the fallen heroes of the force.

Police Department honours the sacrifices of 'Jawans' who laid down their lives.

The Martyrs Day is also observed on the death anniversary of Shaheed Safwat Ghayur, the commandant of Frontier Constabulary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police who was martyred in a suicide attack on his vehicle on 4th August 2010.

Special ceremonies will be held in this regard across the country today and floral wreaths will be laid on graves and monuments of martyrs of the police.

Candles were lit at Teen Talwar in Karachi on August 3 to pay tribute to the police martyrs.
