England face uphill battle to save first Ashes test
England have an uphill battle on their hands to save the first Ashes test after Steve Smith cracked his second century of the test to put Australia in the driving seat.

After Steve Smith and Matthew Wade both scored centuries, Australia took their total from 124-3 to 487-7, giving England 398 to win the match.

England will have to bat out the final day of the Test to avoid losing the test.

Openers Rory Burn and Jason Roy were still at the pitch at the end of play, with England on 13-0 at the end of seven overs.

However, the pitch is expected to favor Australian off- spinner Nathan Lyon on the final day. To pull off a draw, England must see Lyon off safely.
