Daska re-polling: PTI challenges ECP's decision in SC
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday challenged the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of re-polling in NA-75 Daska in Supreme Court (SC).
According to details, PTI candidate Ali Asjad Malhi filed a peition in apex court in which he maintained that the top electoral body did not follow the rules and regulations while issuing order of re-election in the entire constituency.
While requesting the top court to issue results of by-polls after nullifying the ECP decision, the petitioner stated that ECP verdict violates Article 10-A.
It is pertinent here to mention that on February 25 the Election Commission of Pakistan had ordered fresh polls for Daska NA-75 constituency after nullifying the by-election.
Announcing the verdict, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja stated that the by-elections in the constituency were not conducted in a fair and transparent manner and law, while law and order situation was also disrupted.
The elections are now scheduled to be held on March 18.
