Peshawar High Court issues detailed ruling on TikTok ban
The Peshawar High Court has issued an order regarding the closure of TikTok, under which the social media application is not be allowed to operate in Pakistan until immoral content is expurgated.
According to the High Court orders, the young generation is using TikTok as a drug. Lots of TikTok videos are obscene, immoral and contrary to tradition.
There is no procedure for analysing TikTok videos, the order reads.
According to the orders, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) DG stated in the court that TikTok has its office in Singapore and has no office here in Pakistan. It is not in their control to censor, filter or remove videos from the application. They have directed the concerned headquarters to take the action against such material. However, the relevant quarters had been repeatedly contacted but desired results could not be obtained, it is difficult to censor the substance so the only solution is to ban the application.
Some youths have also committed suicide while making TikTok videos, the orders added.
