Asad Umar warns of tougher restrictions if Covid-19 SOPs not followed

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has warned that the government may have no choice but to impose further restrictions in the next two weeks if the coronavirus Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are not taken seriously.

Taking to twitter, the federal minister stated that number of patients in critical care is rising continuously.  

“If sop compliance does not improve, we will be forced to place stronger restrictions on activities. Please be very very careful,” he shared on twitter adding that the new strain of “spreads faster and is more deadly”.

Pakistan is presently experiencing third wave of coronavirus which is said to be more deadly and contagious.

According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 3,495 cases of coronavirus were reported while 61 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 13,717.

The total number of confirmed cases reached to 615,810.

As many as 577501 patients have recovered from the disease with 2,062 critical cases.
