Lights of PM House will be turned off today to mark annual Earth Hour event
Islamabad: The lights of the Prime Minister (PM) House will be turned off today for one hour to mark the annual Earth Hour event.
According to details, following the directives by Prime Minister Imran Khan, all non-essential lights of the PM House will be turned off from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm in order to create awareness of environmental challenges and the growing impact of climate change.
In his message on the day, Imran Khan has said that improving the environmental conditions is the top priority of the government.
In 2007, Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) launched the initiative of observing Earth Hour every year during which unnecessary lights and electric appliances are turned off for one hour between 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
The event is aimed at raising awareness about how excessive usage of power results in more demand for electricity, the production of which contributes significantly to environmental pollution.
