According to the details, President Alvi while Tweeting confirmed that his COVID-19 test came positive and has fallen victim to the Corona epidemic. "May Allah have mercy on all Covid affectees," the president wrote.

The President also appealed for taking precautionary measures against the virus and prayed that God have mercy on all the victims of Corona.

Meanwhile, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail announced that the defence minister has also tested positive for the virus, as he wished him a quick recovery.

President Arif Alvi said that he had received the first dose of the COVID vaccine on March 15, 2021, but added that immunity against the infection is only developed after receiving the second jab, which was due in a week.

He also appealed to the masses to "continue to be careful" [and practice the government's coronavirus standard operation procedures] to keep themselves safe.

On March 20, Prime Minister Imran Khan had also tested positive for COVID-19 after which he had self-isolated himself. The premier had also been inoculated on March 18 — two days before he tested positive for the virus.
