Hike in petrol prices expected for Feb
ISLAMABAD: Government likely to jack up petroleum products prices for February. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has suggested Rs12 per litre increase in the price of petrol and Rs10 per litre rise for diesel in its latest summary sent to the petroleum division.
Earlier, the government had increased the petroleum products prices twice in January.
Sources in the petroleum division said that Ogra has prepared its summary on the basis of a levy of Rs30 per litre. Currently, the levy on petrol is Rs21.56 per litre and Rs23.9 per litre on diesel.
The final decision will be taken by the Ministry of Finance headed by Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh after consultation with Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The price of petrol went up by Rs2.31, since January 1 and diesel by Rs1.80, whereas on January 15, the government again raised up the price of petroleum products with a peak of Rs3.20 more costly per litre and diesel Rs2.95 more expensive per litre.
