Sukkur: Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced a mega development package worth 446 billion rupees for the marginalized districts in Sindh.

While addressing a cheque-distribution ceremony under Kamyab Jawan program in Sukkur today, PM said that the materialization of the package will be initiated within the span of a month.

Imran Khan said that the package includes Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway and Nai Gaj dam and both projects will prove to be highly beneficial for the people of Sindh.

“My government will make every possible effort for uplift of the backward areas across the country. We will also assist the people of Sindh in improving their living standards,” he said.

Imran Khan said that the government distributed 33% of the total funds among deserving families in Sindh under Ehsaas Programme during the coronavirus pandemic.

“The government has provided mega development programs to the backward areas across Pakistan, including Balochistan and the tribal areas. We want to make our youth skilled and provide them ample opportunities to progress,” he said adding that government will take concrete steps to promote sports in the country.

On the occasion, the Imran Khan distributed cheques among deserving people under Kamyab Jawan Program.

About the package

The 446 billion rupees development package includes construction of Nai Gaj dam, which will facilitate the irrigation of 28800 acres of land; and 306 kilometre long Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway. Two hundred thousand acres of land will also be rehabilitated which will generate livelihood opportunities for the people.

Almost 160 villages across the province will get gas supply while provision of thirty thousand annual electricity connections are also part of project.

The ratio of higher education will be brought to 52% whilst for quality education teacher-student ratio will be brought at 1:20. Fourteen passport offices will also be upgraded under the package.
