Govt took action against TLP because it challenged writ of state: PM
Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that ehis government had taken action against the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) because it challenged the writ of the state.
Taking to Twitter, PM posted a series of tweets in which he explained the state's rationale and the steps it took to curb violence after hundreds of policemen were injured in clashes with workers of TLP.
Imran Khan wrote that TMP workers used street violence and attacked public and law enforcers adding that no one can be above the law and the Constitution.
He gave a message to extremists abroad who indulge in Islamophobia and racist slurs to hurt Muslims across the globe and said that Muslims have the greatest love and respect for Prophet PBUH and they cannot tolerate any disrespect and abuse.
My message to extremists abroad who indulge in Islamophobia & racist slurs to hurt & cause pain to 1.3 bn Muslims across the globe: We Muslims have the greatest love & respect for our Prophet PBUH who lives in our hearts. We cannot tolerate any such disrespect & abuse.

Demanding an apology from those who hurt Muslims' sentiments, PM said that those in the West, including extreme right-wing politicians, who deliberately indulge in abuse and hate under the guise of freedom of speech clearly lack moral sense and courage.
I also call on Western govts who have outlawed any negative comment on the holocaust to use the same standards to penalise those deliberately spreading their message of hate against Muslims by abusing our Prophet PBUH.

On Monday, violent protests were sparked by the arrest of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) leader Saad Rizvi in Lahore on unspecified charges.
The protestors blocked several roads of major cities including Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi causing massive jams. Clashes between police and demonstrators were also reported from Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and several other cities where police officials fired tear gas and water cannon to disperse the protesters, who fought back in some places by pelting stones at police officers.
Following that, government announced to ban Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).
