Zimbabwe’s dream to wrap up the innings as soon as possible by taking the last three wickets was destroyed by Abid Ali’s double century who found his support in Nauman Ali.

Abid Ali’s thrilling double century and a decent score of 93 by Nauman Ali took Pakistan to a total of 505 runs. The two players managed a partnership of 164 on the eighth wicket wrenched the game out of hosts’ hands.

Opting to bat, Pakistan seemed to be in trouble in the early overs when they lost the wicket of Imran Butt (2). After the first breakthrough, the Zimbabwe bowling attack struggled to break the partnership between Abid and Azhar who joined forces to add 60 runs to guide their team to lunch. Their partnership continued adding another 94 runs in the session.

The final session brought up both Abid’s and Azhar’s centuries. Azhar was the first to mark, ensuring his 18th Test century while it was the third century in Abid’s test career.

Pakistan declared on 505 and Zimbabwe kick-started their innings early on day two hoping to score maximum.
