Educational institutions to be closed till May 23

Islamabad: Due to the increasing coronavirus cases in the country, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) announced to keep educational institutions closed till May 23.

Earlier, the NCOC had decided to reopen the educational institutions on May 17. However, according to the latest statement by NCOC, on Saturday the reopening of educational institutions has been ordained on May 23.

A conference will be held again on May 18 for reconsidering the decision regarding the closure of educational institutions. 

Earlier in a statement by Federal Minister for Education, Shafqat Mehmood, all the examinations including the entry tests and O/A level exams were postponed till June 15 due to the increasing cases of COVID19. 

According to the latest figures released by the NCOC, another 120 people have died in the last 24 hours due to COVID19. The total number of deaths in the country has reached 18,797, while the total number of infected people has touched a figure of 854,240. 

The percentage of positive coronavirus cases was recorded 8.54%.
