Pakistan's exports cross $2 billion mark for fifth consecutive month

Islamabad: Ministry of Commerce (MoC) released data on Monday, according to which Pakistan’s exports grew for the fifth consecutive month in January to $2.14 billion, up to eight percent from $1.98 billion in the corresponding month last year.

According to details, exports for July-Jan 2020-21 increased by 5.5 percent to $14.245 billion as compared to $13.507 billion over the corresponding months of last year. 

Commerce Adviser, Razak Dawood, in a statement said that Pakistan’s exports had maintained growth and in eight years, it has crossed $2 billion mark in four consecutive months for the first time.

“Our cumulative exports for seven months of FY21 are showing a rising trend,” the adviser added.

The surge in overall exports is mainly driven by textile and clothing sectors, engineering products, surgical instruments and value-added leather products.
