‘No-confidence motion, resignations’: PDM to hold crucial meeting today

Islamabad: A meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) 11-party opposition alliance would take vital decisions ranging from moving no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister Imran Khan to tendering resignations from assemblies and launching long march on Thursday.

As per sources, the meeting will held in Central Secretariat of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) at sharp 2:00 pm today.

PDM President, Maulana Fazlur Rehman will preside over the meeting.

The meeting will also be attended by vice president of PML-N Maryam Nawaz, Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto along with Ahsan Iqbal and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

All other constituent parties in the opposition alliance will ensure their presence in the meeting including Mahmood Achakzai, Akhtar Mengal, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Shirin Rehman and Aftab Sherpao.

Reportedly, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former President Asif Zardari will join via video link.

The meeting will decide the future protest strategy of the PDM, date of the long march towards Islamabad and Hyderabad rally on February 09.

The PDM summit will also discuss the strategy for Senate elections.

Following the meeting, the issue of resignation of opposition members of National and Provincial Assemblies will be further considered.

PDM leaders will also finalize an approach to raise voice against rising inflation in the country.
