On his official twitter handle, Mehmet Bozdog expressed grief and wrote, “I have heard the news of the train accident in my friend and brother country Pakistan with great sadness”.

Expressing sadness over the deadly incident, “Forgiveness from Allah to those who lost their lives in this mishap and to those who were injured”.

He concluded saying, “We pray to Allah Almighty for immediate healing”.

Meanwhile, Turkish actress Gulsim Ali, who portrays the role of Aslihan Hatun in historical drama serial Dirilis: Ertugrul, has expressed her deep grief and sorrow over the incident.

The deadly train accident happened at 3:30 am on Monday near Ghotki district when the Millat Express coming from Karachi derailed and fall on another track. It is not clear what caused the derailment. The Sir Syed Express coming from Rawalpindi collided with it and overturned.

Reportedly, six to eight bogies were totally smashed.

Following the accident, over 60 people were killed and more than 100 sustained serious injuries.

Meanwhile, previous data from Pakistan Railways shows that there were about 757 train accidents between 2012 and 2017.

In 2019, a fire caused by a gas cylinder killed more than 70 passengers on a train that was travelling from Karachi to Rawalpindi, and another 20 people were killed in a train crash a few months earlier.

As per authorities, the major causes of train accidents in country includes lack of track maintenance, signal issues and old engines.
