6,632 out of 7,221 beds kept in govt hospitals for COVID patients unused

As many as 302,952 COVID patients have been recovered in the public sector hospitals being run under the control of Punjab Specialized and Primary & Secondary Healthcare departments, while 246 patients have recovered during the last 24 hours.

Secretary Specialized Healthcare Punjab Barrister Nabeel Ahmed while giving details said that a decline in the wave of Corona pandemic was witnessed in the province.

Out of 7,221 beds reserved in all government hospitals for coronavirus patients, 6,632 beds are lying unoccupied. 

Likewise, out of 1,555 beds reserved in government hospices of Lahore, 1,337 beds are vacant so far.

The Secretary SHC&MED said that the department has arranged 3,185 beds in Isolation wards across Punjab, out of which, 2,997 beds are vacant.

He told that 412 beds for corona patients are reserved in isolation wards set up in government hospitals of Lahore and 369 beds are unoccupied.

In addition, 3,281 beds are also reserved in HDU for patients suffering from Covid-19 in all the hospitals of government and 2847 beds are vacant while, in hospitals of Lahore, 865 beds reserved in HDU and 756 beds are unoccupied, Nabeel Awan added.

The Secretary SHC said the health department has arranged 755 ventilators for COVID patients in all hospitals of the provincial government, of which 167 ventilators are under use while 588 were vacant. 

Around 278 ventilators are reserved in Lahore government hospitals, of which 66 are occupied and 212 are vacant, added Nabeel Awan.
