1,147 HIV cases reported in KP this year
1,486 people have died of HIV this year
Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has released the data of patients infected with HIV virus in the province.
According to the provincial health department, 1,147 cases of HIV were reported in KP this year, after which the number of HIV patients registered in the hospitals of the province has increased to 8,356.
According to the document, 6,105 men and 2,080 women are among the HIV patients registered in KP, while 171 transgenders have also been diagnosed with HIV.
The health department stated that 250 people have been infected with HIV in Peshawar this year.
The report further stated that a total of 1,486 deaths have occurred due to HIV this year.
According to the health department, 1,378 of the total HIV-infected patients are from the merged districts, 352 from Afghanistan, 112 from Punjab, 33 from Sindh, 11 from Balochistan, 14 from Gilgit, and five each from Azad Kashmir and Islamabad.
According to the report, 1,102 people contracted HIV from a used syringe and 818 people contracted the virus through blood transfusion.
