Pakistan coronavirus death toll tops 23,000
Islamabad: Pakistan's coronavirus tally Sunday reached 1,004,694 with the detection of 2,819 new cases in the last 24 hours, with authorities linking the uptick in numbers to the fourth wave of the deadly outbreak across the country.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 2,819 cases of coronavirus were reported while 45 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 23,016.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 1,004,694.
As many as 925,958 patients have recovered from the disease with 2,573 critical cases.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 352,682 in the province with 10,939 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 364,784 in the province, while the death toll has reached 5,814.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 141,627 in the province with 4,417 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 29,494 confirmed cases while 322 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 22,886 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 610. On the other hand, there are 7,702 cases in GB with 122 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 85,519 cases in the capital city while 792 people have lost their lives.
