AJK polls, unofficial results: PTI emerges as largest party after clinching 25 seats
Mirpur: Kashmiris Sunday voted in the favour of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) as the party candidates secured 25 seats in the Azad and Jammu Kashmir (AJK) elections, unofficial and unconfirmed results suggest.
According to GNN reports, out of total 45 seats PTI won 25 seats, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) 11, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) six and Muslim Conference and Jammu and Kashmir PPP bagged one seat each. The result of one constituency is still awaited.
Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, Sardar Tanvir Ilyas, Khawaja, Ahmed Farooq, Diwan Khan Chughtai, Chaudhry Arshad and Ch Anwar-ul-Haq secured victory on their respective seats.
PML-N candidates Raja Farooq Haider and Shah Ghulam Qadir have also retained their seats. However, Raja Farooq Haider suffered defeat from LA-33.
ECP will formally announce the results today.
The elections were held for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (AJKLA). A total of 724 candidates contested elections on 45 seats.
AJK Election Commission Secretary Muhammad Ghazanfar Khan said the polls were held in a free, fair and transparent manner.
He expressed satisfaction over the law and order situation and appreciated the performance of the police and the Pakistan Army in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the elections.
