Extremists martyr 13 Turkish citizens
Amid a military operation, the Rebels of the banned Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) have martyred 13 kidnapped Turkish citizens. The bodies of the military and police personnel were found in a cave during Turkey’s anti-terror operation in northern Iraq.
During the activities in the operation Claw-Eagle 2 area, the remains of 13 citizens who were detained in a cave were found. The hideout was taken under control following the intense clash and all of the terrorists in the cave were neutralized, said senior Turkish officials.
Forty-eight PKK terrorists, including two senior members, were neutralized during the “extremely special and critical" operation in the Gara region, the Turkish defence chief said.
During the campaign, more than 50 terror targets, including ammunition depots, caves, and bases in Gara were destroyed. Three Turkish soldiers were martyred and three were injured in the land operation.
Turkey launched Operation Claw-Eagle 2 on February 10 to prevent the PKK/KCK and other terror groups from re-establishing positions used to carry out cross-border terror attacks. Operations Claw-Tiger and Claw-Eagle were initiated last June to ensure the safety of Turks.
In PKK’s more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the terrorist organization has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
