Dushanbe: The Foreign Minister (FM) of China Wang Yi and the Minister for External Affairs (MEA) India Dr S. Jaishankar met on the sideline of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit at Dushanbe.

Both Ministers stressed the urgency of peace in the region and called for collaboration.

Jaishankar told his Chinese counterpart that talks can begin only when China pull back its troops from the border.

"Discussed disengagement in our border areas. Underlined that progress in this regard is essential for restoration of peace and tranquillity, which is the basis for the development of bilateral ties," India's MEA Twitted.

Both sides were plunged into acrimony last year when decade long dispute soared.

Wang Yi put forward that China has always handled the border dispute with care and a positive attitude.

"We should work together to maintain peace in the region and halt these perpetual confrontations at the border," says Chinese FM.
