Biden appoints Donald Bloom as US envoy to Pakistan
The White House announced that US President Joe Biden intends to nominate professional diplomat Donald Bloom as ambassador to Pakistan.
Washington: The President of United States (US) Joe Biden has appointed diplomat Donald Armin Bloom as his next envoy to Pakistan. His appointment is still awaiting approval from the US Senate.
The White House announced that US President Joe Biden intends to nominate professional diplomat Donald Bloom as ambassador to Pakistan.
Graduated from the University of Michigan, Donald bloom is currently the US ambassador to Tunisia and can speak Arabic fluently.
Donald Bloom has been the US ambassador to Tunisia since 2019 and has a long history of diplomacy in the region.
Previously, he had served as Consul for Political Affairs at the Kabul Embassy and Libya’s chief of staff.
As per reports, the US ambassador has also been the consul general at the Israeli consulate in occupied Jerusalem. He was also the political consul of the Multinational Force Engagement Cell in Baghdad.
The newly appointed ambassador to Pakistan also worked as a Political Adviser at the Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan and Minister – Counsellor for Economic and Political Affairs at the United States Embassy in Cairo, Egypt.
It is pertinent to mention here that there has been no US ambassador to Pakistan for a long time.
