Google is reportedly working on an in-house smartwatch that might launch in 2022.

The long rumoured ‘Pixel Watch’ is Google’s first in house smart wearable—might finally launch in 2022.

Search engine giant’s has brought many smartphones under the Pixel line but has never made its own smartwatch even though Google had a wearable platform Wear OS since 2014.

The report comes from Insider that says the upcoming Google smartwatch is developed by the Pixel hardware team that is different from Fitbit.

It is pertinent to mention here that Google bought Fitbit for $2.1 billion earlier this year.

According to a new report from Insider, Google is internally codenamed Rohan, and it's being worked on by company’s Pixel hardware group, which is separate from Fitbit.

At the moment, according to reports, Google's watch is expected to cost more than a Fitbit. It'll even compete directly with the Apple Watch.

The watch should have basic fitness tracking features, such as step counting and a heart rate monitor. It might even have Fitbit integration into Wear OS, thanks to an effort codenamed Nightlight.

Moreover, Google is currently tinkering away on Wear OS 3, in partnership with Samsung.
