PSL6: Peshawar Zalmi defeat Islamabad United by 6 wickets
Karachi: Peshawar Zalmi defeated Islamabad United by 6 wickets in the tenth match and day’s second match of the sixth edition of Pakistan Super League, (PSL) which was played at National Stadium Karachi.
Kamran Akmal and Imam-ul-Haq started the innings for Peshawar Zalmai in pursuit of an easy target of 119 runs. Imam-ul-Haq was caught by Faheem Ashraf on Hassan Ali's ball without scoring a run.
Earlier, Islamabad United were bowled out for 118 in 17.1 overs. Alex Hales of Islamabad United scored the most 41 runs against Peshawar Zalmi. Peshawar Zalmi captain Wahab Riaz took four wickets while Saqib Mahmood took three wickets.
Paul Sterling, the first player to be dismissed, was bowled by Wahab Riaz after scoring just one run.
Phil Salt was bowled by Saqib Mahmood after scoring 9 runs. Faheem Ashraf also added only two runs to the team's total score and was caught by Ameed Asif.
After Hussain Talat scored 22 runs, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman took his wicket. Asif Ali scored 19 and he also fell victim to Wahab Riaz.
Shadab Khan was run out after scoring only 6 runs. Alex Hales batted well and scored 41 runs.
Earlier, Islamabad captain Shadab Khan won the toss and invited Peshawar Zalmi to bat first.
Earlier in the day, Karachi Kings defeated Multan Sultans by seven wickets. Multan Sultans gave the Karachi Kings a target of 196 and the Karachi Kings batsmen completed it in 18.5 overs.
