Relatives demand justice after triple murder near Bani Gala
Islamabad: Relatives of the victims of a heinous triple murder that took place in Islamabad are demanding justice from Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Mufti Ikram, his 13-years-old son and his student were gunned down on Saturday night while they were exiting the mosque after prayers. Mufti Ikram was the imam of the mosque and the brother of JUI's Rawalpindi leader, Qari Karamat.
Hidayat Rehman, another brother of the slain imam, hid behind a car and thus saved his life. He has stated that he will be able to identify all the assailants.
Protestors blocked Murree Road on Sunday along with the bodies of the victims, causing a massive traffic jam near Bara Kahu. Islamabad DC Hamza Shafqaat and SSP Mustapha Tanweer were engaged in dialogue with the protestors.
An FIR of the murders has already been registered while SSP Tanweer assured the protestors that the culprits will be arrested soon. However, relatives were insisting that the protest will continue until arrests have been made.
Final agreement for ending the protest was reached at 6:00 pm. For the moment, the bodies will be kept in cold storage at the local morgue. Hamza Shafqaat has said that one suspect has been identified and raids are underway to arrest him.
