One-week lockdown imposed in Mirpur amid spike in Covid-19 cases
Muzaffarabad: One week lockdown has been imposed in Mirpur Azad Kashmir starting from today, in view of rising coronavirus cases.
According to Mirpur Deputy Commissioner Badar Munir, all educational institutions, public transport will remain closed and other religious, political, social and sports activities have also been banned.
According to the notification, medical stores, hospitals and petrol pumps will remain open in Mirpur, while all grocery stores, bakeries, meat, fruit and vegetable shops, and LPG cylinder shops would do business from 8am to 4pm on Tuesday and Friday only.
All pharmacies and petrol pumps will remain open throughout the week.
Wedding parties have also been limited 25 guests, while only 50 people are allowed to attend funerals in the district.
According to National Command and Control Center (NCOC), around 1,392 cases of coronavirus were reported while 36 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 12,896.
There are 10,243 coronavirus cases in AJK while the death toll has reached 301.
