Blow for PTI: Two MPAs refuse to vote for party candidates in Senate polls
In a major blow to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) government, two of its members of provincial assembly have declared that that they will not vote for their party's candidates in senate polls.
Alleging favoritism and vote-selling in party, the MPAs said that few candidates were given tickets in exchange of money.
In a video message, PTI’s MPA Karim Bux Gabol, who was elected from PS-100 Karachi East-II in the 2018 general elections, claimed that PTI distributed Senate tickets to candidates in exchange of money.
He further said that as per Constitution of Pakistan he is allowed to vote for any candidate and he would not support candidates who have "purchased" a ticket.
Criticizing the performance of ruling party, he said that PTI failed to live up to people’s expectations.
“Sindh was being given step-motherly treatment by the federal government,” he said.
The video message of the PTI MPA has surfaced at a time when opposition parties claiming to be in touch with disgruntled members of assemblies belonging to PTI.
As per sources, there are several MPAs of ruling party and its coalition partners in Punjab and Sindh who are willing to give votes to candidates of Pakistan Democratic Alliance (PDM).
It is pertinent to mention here that senate elections are scheduled to be held on March 03, where a tough comptition is expected between PTI’s Abdul Hafeez Sheikh and PDM’s Yousaf Raza Gillani.
