According to details, a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed conducted the hearing in connection with demolition of lawyers’ chambers in capital city and upheld the verdict of Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The apex court also turned down lawyers’ plea to halt the demolition until an alternative place is provided for their chambers.

During proceedings, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked that on what basis the court should stop the demolition process.

“Lawyers have no claim on the football ground. Those who want to practice law should build their offices somewhere else,” he remarked.

When a lawyer said that several courts are also built on the ground, CJP ordered pulling down those courts as well.

CJP also offered to give two months of time to lawyers to vacate the ground; however, advocate Hamid Khan said that the demolition process should be halted till the lawyers have moved to a new high court building.

Earlier on last Friday, the apex court while hearing the appeal against demolition of the illegal chambers of lawyers said that the court will not take its decision under any pressure.
