Dubai: A new advisory has been issued regarding heavy rains in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Heavy rains have disrupted life in the UAE, where torrential rains have continued in Dubai and Abu Dhabi since Monday night, while a new advisory has forecast rain, lightning and hail.

According to the media reports, the flight schedule at Dubai Airport has been affected due to heavy rain and several important highways in Dubai have been flooded due to heavy rain.

The UAE Meteorological Department says that the rain may continue till Wednesday.

According to the Emirati authorities, several highways in Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been closed. There is a flood situation in several roads and areas, due to which several stations of Dubai Metro have also been flooded.

Officials have directed people to avoid unnecessary exits from home and the passengers should check the flight schedule before coming to the airport.

Lahore: The industrial city of Faisalabad is ready to host the expanded and rebranded National Women’s One-Day Tournament, which kicks off on Wednesday.

Until last season, the 45-over competition was contested by three sides – Blasters, Challengers, and Dynamites – under the Pakistan Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament banner.

This year, the Pakistan Cricket Board, in its continued endeavor, support and promotion for women’s cricket, has included six regional sides for the competition that will be held in a double-league 50-over format, guaranteeing each side, at least 10, matches. The six regional sides competing in the event, which carries a total prize money of PKR2.245 million, are: Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, and Rawalpindi.

The top two sides after 30 league matches will progress to the final on 11 May, with the winning side lifting the silverware and collecting a PKR one million cheque.

The venues for this important event are Jawad Club Cricket Ground, Iqbal Stadium, and Bohranwali Cricket Ground, with Saeed Ajmal Academy Ground as the reserve venue.

Omaima Sohail will captain the Karachi Region, Lahore will be led by Kaynat Hafeez, Saima Malik will skipper Quetta, Humna Bilal will lead Multan, while Gull Rukh and Mahnoor Aftab will captain Peshawar and Rawalpindi, respectively.

Fixtures for Wednesday: Quetta vs. Rawalpindi, Jawad Cricket Club Ground; Karachi vs. Multan, Iqbal Stadium; Peshawar vs. Lahore, Bohranwali Cricket Ground.

Fixtures for Friday: Quetta vs. Peshawar, Iqbal Stadium; Lahore vs. Karachi, Jawad Club Cricket Ground; Rawalpindi vs. Multan, Bohranwali Cricket Ground.

36 cases against Fawad: IG informs court

The court gave one week's time to Fawad Chaudhry to file bail.

Lahore: The Inspector General (IG) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar and the provincial government presented the details of the cases filed against former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry in the court.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Alia Neelam of Lahore High Court (LHC) heard the petition filed for details of cases against Fawad Chaudhry, in which Punjab government's lawyer, IG Punjab and others appeared in the court.

During the hearing, on the inquiry of the court, the lawyer Punjab government said that 40 cases were registered against Fawad Chaudhry out of which four have been dismissed, now 36 cases remain.

The IG Punjab also informed the court that 36 cases were registered against Fawad Chaudhry, on which the court asked if he was not named in any other case? On the inquiry of the court, IG Punjab said that apart from these cases, Fawad Chaudhry is not named in any case.

IG Punjab Usman Anwar stated that Fawad Chaudhry did not file interim bail in these cases, on which the court asked if you will give him a chance to file interim bail. On this IG Punjab replied yes they will give them a chance.

The court gave one week's time to Fawad Chaudhry to file bail.

During the hearing, Justice Alia Neelam said to IG Punjab that today you are smiling a lot, to which IG Usman Anwar replied: ‘I have been appearing in you court for 12 years, today I did not hear any sarcastic phrases from you’.
