Assets beyond means case against Safdar; NAB decides to include Maryam in investigation process
Lahore: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to include Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz into the investigation process of assets beyond means case against her husband Captain (R.) Safdar
According to NAB sources, evidences have been found suggesting that Captain Safdar purchased 109 acres of land in Sundar.
As per documents obtained by anti-corruption watchdog, a land of 62 Kanal 2 Marla in Mouza Baduki has also been purchased in the name of Maryam Nawaz. Moreover, a 14 kanals one marla land was also purchased on the name of PML-N Vice President. As per sources, she owns 200 acres of land in Raiwind Tehsil.
NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had received complaints against Captain (R) Safdar in 2020. Later, the inquiry was shifted to NAB Lahore as most of the properties were in the provincial capital of Punjab.
The accountability bureau has sought details of income sources of Captain (R) Safdar.
On the other hand, Lahore High Court (LHC) restrained anti-corruption watchdog from Captain (R.) Muhammad Safdar.
A two-member bench of LHC, headed by Justice Sarfraz Dogar, issued a notice to NAB to submit its reply to a petition filed by the PML-N leader. The court has also barred NAB from arresting Safdar until March 29.
The PML-N leader had challenged the NAB’s call-up notice in an assets beyond means case.
