Women stand by men to make Swat crime free

In what was once a hub of terrorism, ladies police force have been trained to deal with any untoward circumstance with heavy weapons and other arms. 75 women police officers participated in the course from across the region. Female officers were trained to use SMG, become sharpshooter and other weapons so that they could play a significant part in dealing with crime along with the rest of the force.

Constable Akhtar Begum told GNN that she felt empowered and determined since receiving the training. "When the area was in the grip of terrorism, police force gave innumerable sacrifices including female officers," she said, adding that the Heavy Weaponry Course has helping in raising her morale higher now that she is prepared to deal with any kind of untoward situation.

A total of 75 ladies are on police duty in Swat, out of which three are working in examinations while the rest are in the field. These 72 women work alongside men to counter violations, amintain law and order and take part in raids and search tasks.

 Zahid Khan, considered the ambassador of peace in the valley, told GNN that although women officers played a significant part in the years that terrorism reigned across the region, they did not have the kind of raining they do now. "Now they will be able to perform their duties with determination and courage," he predicted.

 In Swat, training programs are led at different times to equip police with the training to use the most modern of available weapons. The incorporation of women officers in the training program is a positive step.

Dilawar Bangash, the District Police Officer (DPO) said that the motivation behind the program was to facilitate them in handling all the challenges that this modern age can throw at them.

"This type of course will be conducted in the future too with the goal that morale of ladies police staff can likewise be raised," said Swat District Police Officer DilawarBangash
