No-trust motion against Imran Khan submitted in NA
A delegation of senior opposition lawmakers submitted the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Islamabad: About half a dozen senior opposition Member of National Assembly (MNAs) have submitted the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan with the NA secretariat on Tuesday.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that a delegation of senior opposition lawmakers including Naveed Qamar and Rana Sanaulllah, submitted the no-trust motion against Imran Khan.
“The signatures are more that the required numbers,” PML-N’s Marriyum Aurangzeb told reporters at the Parliament House.
In order to make the no-confidence move successful, the opposition requires the support of 172 members of the National Assembly.
Reportedly, over 80 MPs have signed the motion—seeking to remove the incumbent premier from office.
Earlier, a meeting of the parliamentary party was held under the chairmanship of PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif in which the PML-N members signed the no-confidence motion.
However, the opposition is confident of having the numbers to remove PM Imran Khan, sources said, adding that they are claiming of having the support of 202 National Assembly members.
In the meantime, the three bigwig Opposition leaders — Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, PML-N's Shahbaz, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman — will address a press conference today 4:30 pm.
It is pertinent to mention here that NA Speaker Asad Qaiser was not present in the Secretariat when the Opposition leaders reached there.
