Covid-19 vaccination: Registration of citizens over age of 50 to begin in 10 days

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Asad Umar has said that the coronavirus vaccination registration for people aged 50 or above will open in 10 days.

According to Radio Pakistan, the minister urged those who are 60 and above to get themselves registered for the vaccination as they are more vulnerable to coronavirus.

Asad umar said that the third wave of Covid-19 is more lethal as compared to the previous wave, as its mortality rate is higher.

The minister said that government has placed an order for coronavirus vaccine to a company for 30 million people and the first batch of vaccine would be received during the current month or next.

Rejecting rumors that government does not plan on purchasing vaccines; he said that more than $150 million budget has been set aside for the purchase of coronavirus vaccines.

On March 10, Pakistan began the second phase of a nationwide coronavirus vaccination drive from to inoculate all above 60.

Earlier, people above 65 were being vaccinated for the virus.

Pakistan is witnessing the third wave of Covid-19 which is said to be more contagious. The country reported 29 coronavirus deaths and 2,253 new positive cases in last 24 day.
